The Mountain and Three Moons…
An all day tour exposing the unexpected in the Queensland Bush leaving Bundaberg near the mouth of the Burnett River to arrive at Three Moon Creek at the river’s source
Micro Bat Colony
We will drive into Boolboonda Tunnel to visit a colony of little Bent-Wing Bats.
We drive the townships of Mount Perry and Mulgildie (home of the legendary Bunyip), before collecting a traditional Australian Lunch from Monto and following Three Moon Creek through Moonford and into Cania Gorge.
Cania Gorge National Park
We share in a Lunch and a cuppa in the Picturesque Cania Gorge before walking into Russell Gully. It is a 3.5km round trip under towering Sanstone bluffs, along the creek bed strewn with River Boulders, up onto the Dripping Rock boardwalk and then into the Red Ochre Caves before descending into the Overhang to rest and meditate in a valley of Sandstone and Tree Ferns.
Mt Castle Tower
We continue the drive along the Giant Sandstone Bluffs of Cania to stop at Cania Dam and the lake that now covers the once prosperous gold mining township of Cania.
The walk at Cania Gorge is 3.5km and takes about 2hours. It is a National Parks Grade 3 walk with many uneven steps and loose surfaces.The temperature can be 40C with very high humidity.
· I’ll collect you at 7:00 from the Quay Street carpark near the riverside cafe
· We’ll drive to discover hidden parts of the Queensland Bush
· I’ll provide lunch and a cuppa
· Have you back at the carpark by 5:00
· Bring your usual outdoor gear – hat, sunscreen, water, foot wear, insect repellent.
